'Murder tunnel' hidden in basement discovered while viewing a house in Indiana
This was the creepy moment an eerie passage was discovered in an Indiana home on January 14.
Footage shows the nearly hidden door being opened to reveal - with the aid of a torch - a shabby passageway that looks like it hasn't been used for years.
The filmer was originally looking around the house with the realtor, that was built in 1937 by a very successful and wealthy doctor who volunteered to fight in the First World War.
Both didn't know about the mysterious passageway until they both checked out the basement.
The filmer who described it as a "murder tunnel" told Newsflare: "I now actually own the house where the tunnel is.
"But when originally looking at the house the realtor and I were in the basement, which is very large and dark since none of the lights worked.
"We were looking at the boiler and noticed a weird part of the wall boarded up.
"We started poking around it and after some tugging got it open.
"The last thing either of us was expecting to find was a dark creepy tunnel.
"I was honestly pretty creeped out by it at first, but now think it is really cool part of the house.
"Nothing on the house listing mentioned a tunnel or showed pictures fo the basement."
It is suspected that the tunnel was originally used as a coal ash storage room before the house was heated by a central heating boiler.
The filmer has only lived in the house for a few weeks but keeps finding new unique features as the house was custom built.
