An amputee who lost half his leg due to a blood clot refuses to let that stop him living his life.

Ben Lovell, from Halifax in Yorkshire in the north of England, had his leg amputated two years ago after a blood clot turned his foot white due to lack of circulation.

Despite the lower leg being removed, Lovell hasn't let it stop him from exercising regularly and climbing mountains.

"My femoral artery (the main artery in both legs) ... is completely blocked all the way from my stomach all the way down to my leg," the 41-year-old explains.

"The only thing keeping my amputated leg alive at the moment is the fact I exercise and push blood into it.

"I've spoken to doctors, specialists and professors and they all say my leg, as it's been blocked for 12 months now, should be dead.

"It should be of no use to me whatsoever, but I can still do what I can do because I'm pushing that blood into it."

According to Lovell's GoFundMe page, doctors are hesitant to operate on the leg again. However, without an operation, Lovell runs the risk of not being able to use a proper prosthetic and more of his leg will have to be amputated.
