Car spins out of control and crashes into utility pole in Thailand
This is the terrifying moment a car lost control and smashed into a utility pole.
Motorist Theethanasan Dungsrikaew had just crossed a raised level crossing at speed which propelled the vehicle upwards in Kanchanburi, central Thailand.
CCTV footage from a used car garage shows the Honda Civic skidding sideways before slamming into the pole in the early hours of Monday morning (Jan 20).
Three passengers were able to clamber from the wreckage but the driver was unconscious and rushed to hospital after being cut from the vehicle.
Rescue workers said the driver was stuck between the wrecked vehicle and the concrete pole.
One of the team said: "The car crashed and broke the utility pole. It was also stuck between the two broken pieces. If we moved the car out too quickly the upper part of the pole could have fallen and pulled all of the wires down.''
The garage owner Teerawat Thamnawan said there were many accidents in front of his showroom.
He said: "My garage is located near a railway and people who don't live here often speed across without realising there is a small mount which propels them into the air.
"They are driving fast so the incline causes them to lose control and then crash. The authorities should find a way to deal with this to prevent more accidents."
