Horrifying moment when an overhead water tank suddenly collapsed in the east Indian state of West Bengal.

The incident took place on January 22 in a small village of Sarenga located in the state's Bankura district.

Visuals show the stem of the water tower suddenly disintegrate, which was followed by the collapse of the dome.

The whole structure came crashing down within a span of few seconds with debris covering the surrounding agricultural fields.

According to the reports, the water tank supplied water to 15 villages in the district and was constructed only 4-years ago.

Personnel from the Public Health Engineering Department believe that the collapse of the structure was due to loosening soil bed.
