This is the moment an injured python was rescued after being burned by crop fires in Thailand.

The snake was found on Wednesday (January 22) in Ang Thong province where local farmers had set alight waste sugar can husks.

Fires have caused chronic air pollution this month by sending thick clouds of smoke into the atmosphere.

The 13ft long python is another of the victims. It was found in thick bushes by concerned locals.

Footage from rescue worker Jirawat Iamlamai shows the exhausted laying across leaves. Its entire body was burned.

Vets rushed to the scene after the witness reported that they saw the serpent attempting slithering from the flames in the sugar cane fields.

Jirawat and his team carefully lifted the python into a sack to be taken to his animal hospital in Pathum Thani province.

The animal lover, who is an expert in treating injured reptiles, said: "The snake is now in good hands, so we hope it will get well soon. We will free the python back into the wild after finishing the treatment."
