A wild king cobra was caught inside a home and then given its own glittery silver hat.

The 5ft-long monocled cobra, which is one of the deadliest in the world, was caught in a residential property in Ang Thong, central Thailand, on January 10.

But the rescue team could not resist the chance to play with the reptile.

Snake handler, Jirawat, briefly gave the cobra a glamorous hat he had made especially for snakes.

Jirawat said: ''I made the hat during the New Year holidays and was waiting for the next snake to give it to. This one was quite aggressive, so I don't think he liked his hat so much.''

In the video, Jirawat is heard telling the snake to ''stay cool, stay cool,'' but it reacts ferociously by striking and hissing.

The cobra was put inside a bag, removed from the grounds of the home, then released into the wilderness several miles away.

The snake was not harmed in any way by the strange hat-giving stunt which was performed by a professional reptile expert.
