Afraid of Corona Virus, Indonesian Citizens Ask Travelers from China to be Repatriated
Residents of the West Sumatra Province of Indonesia, urged the government to repatriate 150 tourists from China, who came on January 26, 2020. The pressure was made because residents were worried that the tourist group from Kunming City, Yunan Province of China, was infected with the corona virus and eventually spread in their area.
In a meeting with the West Sumatra Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), January 27, 2020, residents who called themselves the Minang Community Forum (FMM) gave an ultimatum so that the return of Chinese tourists was carried out within 24 hours, counting their landing.
In addition, FMM also urged the government of West Sumatra and Indonesia to temporarily stop tourist visits, as well as food products from China. According to them, the condition of China is not good, after many residents of Wuhan City died of the corona virus.
Earlier on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 06.00 am, 150 tourists from Kunming City China landed at the Minangkabau International Airport. They flew directly from China using chartered planes. They are scheduled to visit a number of areas in West Sumatra such as Padang, Bukittinggi, Tanah Datar and Pesisir Selatan. However, in a number of areas such as Bukittinggi and Tanah Datar, a number of local people rejected their presence.
