HE SAYS: "I LOVE IT. YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING. YOU'VE GOT DUCKS, GEESE, SWANS. IT'S LOVELY."
WILL HOUNSLOW COUNCIL LEAVE HIM ALONE – OR WILL HE FACE EVICTION?
Never-give-up Gary Roberts's previous home was a sunken wreck at Watermans Park, Brentford, and he ended up being rescued from it – SEE PREVIOUS VIDEOS. This time he's living on another wreck but with an important difference: it floats.
It is a bit further along the quayside. He's sleeping on pallets in a cabin at the back, in his coat in a sleeping bag, with a woolly hat pulled down and his hood pulled up. It's cold and damp but better than the alleyway he was using off Strand on the Green nearby. When it rains it leaks so he hasn't got a mattress. Meanwhile he keeps returning to his former vessel to try and salvage goods he can use.
He says he has the permission of the current boat's owner to stay on it and he is restoring it. He says: "I love it. You wake up in the morning. You've got the ducks, the geese, the swans, it's lovely."
Meanwhile Gary, a joiner, is looking for work.
