In a desperate attempt to drive away swarms of locusts from their fields, a school has engaged 50 students to beat drums and plates around the farmland in the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan.

The incident took place on January 28 in a small village of Raisar located in the state's Jodhpur district.

Visuals show the Taramira( oilseed) crops being infested by swarms of locusts.

The students are seen beating drums and plates and walking in and around the fields in a futile attempt to chase the insects away.

According to the reports, the students were unable to drive away the pests and were asked to return.
