A disabled foster dog has his the first night in his adopted home after undergoing multiple operations to help combat his spine problems after acid was poured on him.

The cute video, filmed on September 19 near Boston, shows the puppy playfully running towards his encouraging new owner.

Harry the Aruban puppy was found in a basket with his siblings after someone had poured acid over them.

Angie, Harry's owner now, told Newsflare: "His first foster mama took them in. One of the siblings had to be euthanised because the skin had dissolved to the bone, but Harry wasn’t affected by that, he was most likely on the bottom.

"I do a lot with animal rescue. I was in Aruba in September to help with the spay & neuter campaign and I agreed to take Harry back home to foster. I had taken in two other disabled dogs from Aruba and helped them be able to walk and both had been adopted, so I was comfortable and felt confident I could help him."

Harry has been diagnosed with spina bifida, which can lead to severe spinal injuries, and has undergone surgery to cure his chronic paraphimosis.

After the operation, Harry received various types of treatment such as laser therapy, water therapy, joint manipulations and massages.

Angie said: "My husband and I took him to Eddie’s Wheels in Shelburne Falls where they customised a wheelchair for him.

"Because I post his videos on social media, sometimes people reach out to me, and a wonderful woman reached out to me months ago who lives a few towns away and we became friends and sometimes she takes Harry on the weekends for me so I can get a break.

"A couple of weeks so ago I went to pick him up at her house and she had him in his wheelchair and I hadn’t seen him in his wheelchair outside before. When he saw me he started running to me, it was the most amazing thing, I was cry-laughing."

Angie added: "I knew at that time was that his legs didn’t work,
unfortunately, that turned out to be the least of his problems. After I brought him back here, I took him to my vet and got him x-rays, I learned he had spina bifida. As well as a heart murmur and his bladder in his pelvic canal. Euthanasia was discussed."

This is the first night in America for this disabled Aruban puppy. At the time I didn’t know that his disabilities were as severe as they were, or what life has in store for him. He survived being left in a basket under a bush in the Aruban heat and having acid thrown on his litter, and I wanted to find out what I could do to help him.
