Law enforcers rescue 23 kids kept as hostages, shoot captor in northern India

Shocking moment man invited 23 kids to his house on the pretext of his daughter’s birthday party and turned them into hostages in north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on January 30 in Mohamadabad locality of Farrukhabad .

Visuals show the law enforcers forming a perimeter around the abductor’s house and trying to initiate a dialogue with him.

Footage also shows the police beating a woman who happened to be the criminal’s wife.

According to the reports, the man, Subhash Batham was an accused of a murder case and was out on a bail.

Timeline of the event is as follows

( January 30- Day -1 Farukkhabad, Uttar Pradesh)

2 pm- The criminal, Subhash Batham invites the children of the locality on the pretext of a birthday party.

4 pm-The children arrive at the designated time to the man’s house.

5 pm – Subhash goes to the terrace of his house and shouts that he has taken the 23 kids as hostages.

5:30 pm- The criminal shoots at one of his closest friend’s leg who had come to talk to him after being convinced by villagers. Police informed about the situation.

6 pm- Law enforcers try to engage a dialogue with the man who instead fires at them, injuring two policemen in the process.

6:30 pm- The District Magistrate(DM) And Superintendent of Police(SP) arrive at the scene. The man starts demanding for another higher authority to arrive, meanwhile firing two more shots.

7 pm- Higher authorities informed, the man continues to threaten police at standby saying that he possesses more firearms.

7:30 pm- Deputy Superintendent of Police orders Anti-Terrorism Squad(ATS) to take over the situation, National Security Guards(NSG) also informed.

9:10 pm- Chief Minister(CM) Yoginath calls for an emergency meeting with various administrators of the state.

9:20 pm- ATS team arrives and forms a perimeter around the man’s house.

9:30 pm- ATS team begins the rescue operation.

10 pm- Drone employed to take pictures of the situation inside the house.

11 pm – NSG team headed by a commando leave for Farukkhabad.

11:30 pm – Man releases an unconscious girl back to the awaiting law enforcers.

(January 31- Day-2 after the hostages were taken)

12 am- Man sends a demand list to the police.

1 am- Two more kids released by the man.

1.05 am-Police successfully rescue the trapped kids with the help of villagers and shoot down the captor.

1:10 am – Director General of Police, Om Singh confirms the abductor’s death.

2 am – Prime Minister ( PM) Shri Narendra Modi announces a Rs 1000000($ 14007) reward for the police force.
