A brave woman from southern India rescued a dog on Thursday (January 30th) which was trapped at the bottom of a 30-foot-deep well.

A video of the rescue shows 40-year-old Rajni Shetty using a rope to descend the sheer walls of the water source in the Ballalbagh area of Mangaluru.

Shetty, who admitted later that she did not know how to swim, eventually manages to tie a second rope around the animal which is hauled to safety by locals at the top of the well.

Shetty then manages to climb out herself.

According to Shetty, the dog ran away immediately after the roughly 45-minute rescue operation.

Animal lover Shetty suffered a few cuts and bruises but said they were worth it to rescue an animal in distress.

A Brave women saves life of a stray dog which fell into 30 deep feet well in Mangaluru.
Rajni Shetty (40 years) resident of Ballalbagh area got a call from a girl known to her around 2 PM in afternoon of 30th January that a stray dog fell into well which is around 30 feet deep ,Rajni and her daughter immediately rushed to stop which is not far away from their home . Describing the chain of events Rajni told that when she reached their several youths were already there who was thinking on how to rescue dog ,calling fire brigade was not an option as it could take several hours for them to reach and we didn't have so much of time as the dog could have died . So i decided to go down in well to rescue the dog . Rajni who don't know to swin risked her life and went down , she said that first the dog managed to sit in the corner at broken space . She first pampered the dog and then tied rope around the dog waist ,people pulled the dog out first . With the help of ropes i climbed out the well after that .The dog after getting rescued immediately ran away .It took them around 45 minutes time to rescue dog .
According to Rajni we exactly don't know when the dog fell into the well ,but when some children were passing from the area they heard some sounds from well ,after seeing the dog inside they alerted people there . Rajni is a housewife and a animal lover . Rajni has around 1 dozen stray dogs at her home ,she had other stray animals also which she feed them daily .
Rajni got several wounds and cuts on her hands during the course of rescue mission .
