Hongkongers shop for masks amid Coronavirus outbreak
As the scare about the Wuhan Coronavirus spreads, Hongkongers could be spotted on Sunday evening comparing prices for face masks in the busy Sai Yeung Choi South street. Several shops, habitually catering to mainland visitors with cosmetics had a special display for surgical masks, N95 masks and soap or other disinfecting gels at prices ranging from 3x to 5x their ordinary prices. Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government kept rejecting pleas to shut down the land border with China through which saw 138,000 people entering the city on Saturday 1st February alone.
