The front beach area of Class II A Penitentiary (Lapas) A Padang, Padang City, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia, Monday 3 February 2020 filled with smoke from burning garbage.
Plastic waste and organic waste which has been piled up at the tourist site since a week ago, was burned by an unknown person.
It is suspected that arson was carried out because the rubbish had not been transported to the final disposal site by the relevant officials.
This condition causes the coastal area to be filled with rubbish which destroys the scenery and creates unpleasant odors.

As a result of burning, smoke also reached the stalls of residents who sell at the beach. As a result, visitors feel disturbed, because of the desire to watch the beauty of the sunset, disturbed by the smoke from burning trash.
Even the traders at that location also claimed their turnover dropped dramatically, because many tourists were reluctant to stop by and shop.
The piles of rubbish in the Padang Beach area have been going on since a week ago, after floods and waves brought rubbish and picked up rubbish that had been sinking for the last dozen years on the seabed.
Although cleaning efforts continue to be done, but the garbage at this location never goes away.
