Refugees were sent fleeing after clashes during a protest forced authorities to fire tear gas on the Greek island of Lesbos today (February 3).

Residents of the port town of Mytilini were protesting against the Moria refugee camp inhabitants.

Footage shows refugees fleeing from the violence and disputes further up the road, one man is seen collapsing.

Further footage shows an Afghan father giving a chilling piece to camera where he pleads: "We did not come for bread, water, clothes or money.

"We came so our children can have an education and live.

"This is my daughter and I want her to live, I did not live for 40 years but they have to live, so they can feel the meaning of life.

"If there are human rights, if Europe defends these rights, then please stop this suffering. If not. We deport us. Deport us."

The filmer explained: "This man from Herat says after he got heavily teargassed with his two children.

"The boy is 11 and the girl is six.

"After this statement, he went back into the crowd to find his wife, who has a baby."

The island is directly six miles at its narrowest part - from the Turkish mainland making it a hotspot for fleeing refugees wanting to get to Europe.

Protest taking place in between Moria refugee Camp and Mytilini port town, heavily being pushed back by police with tear gas.
