The two-month-old hippo named Mootoon began trying to bite his parent. When she stayed calm, he then fell into the water, rolled onto his back and sank below the surface like he was drowning. Even that stunt was ineffective and he eventually gave up.

The zookeeper, Benz, who looks after the hippos, captured the pair while he was feeding the animals in Khaokheow zoo, Chonburi, eastern Thailand, on January 30.

Benz said: "Mootoon was asking his mom for attention and when the mom did not respond, Mootoon began acting childish."
