Seven injured after school bus crashes into utility pole in Thailand
Two pupils were trapped and seriously injured after their school bus crashed into a utility post on Thursday (February 6) morning.
The youngsters were among more than 300 children in a convoy of seven coaches going on a school trip when the vehicle lost control on a bend.
Driver Nisofe Niseng, 34, swerved across the road before the bus crashed in Songkla, southern Thailand, just before sunrise.
Emergency workers arrived at the scene to find the driver, two teachers, two assistants and two pupils trapped in the wreckage.
Rescue workers spent more than one hour to use the cutting equipment to free the injured passengers and driver. All seven injures were rushed to the local hospital.
Other passengers were not injured by the collision but were panicked and frightened.
They were later transferred to a new bus to return home to their families.
Local police began to interview witnesses while checking the site of the crash to establish what caused the accident.
