Love Songs for the Planet
MPs and Londoners invited to celebrate their love for planet earth

On Wednesday 12 February 2020, Extinction Rebellion held a mass singalong in Parliament Square. In advance of Valentine’s Day, MPs were invited to join Londoners in celebrating their love for planet earth, and to commit to working for rapid and bold government action on environmental emergency by supporting the Three Demands Bill .

Extinction Rebellion’s three demands call on government to tell the truth about climate change, commit to zero emissions by 2025, and to move beyond politics by setting up a governmental Citizens’ Assembly that decides the action that should be taken to address the environmental emergency.

“It’s not rocket science” said one of the organisers, “Just a sensible way to make progress quickly because time is running out”.

The love songs featured new eco-lyrics to popular love songs, referencing the fires in Australia, the destruction of rain forest, carbon emissions from fossil fuels and extreme catastrophic weather events caused by global warming.

Several MPs came out to sing in support of action on the climate emergency.
