A fire broke out at a governmental building in Mumbai, India on Monday (February 17).

The footage shows the blaze raging through the upper levels of the building and smoke is seen billowing out the windows.

Nearly 3,500 staffers were working in the GST Bhavan building in the Mazagon area when the fire broke out around 12:30 p.m.

Firefighters said no one was injured or trapped.

Scaring footage shows a high rise government buildings engulfed in flames as thick dark smoke bellows from the windows in the Mazgaon area of the Mumbai suburb in Mahrashtra in India.

The building was a GST (Goods and Service Tax) building where more than 3000 employees worked.

The fire was reportedly caught in the 8th floor of the building after which 15 water tankers and 5 fire extinguishers were deployed on the spot to tackle the emergency and rescue the trapped workers.

The incident took place on 17th February around 12:00 to 12:30 PM. The deputy CM Ajit Pawar was present inside attending a meeting when the fire broke out.

No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.

The reason of the fire is believed to be the short circuit inside the building but the investigation is already underway to find out the actual cause of the fire.
