A wild leopard in Sri Lanka was seen hiding behind some bushes in order to pounce on an unsuspecting jackal, in this chilling and dramatic encounter.

The incident took place on August 21, 2019 at the Wilpattu National Park.

Footage shot from a watching vehicle shows a jackal wandering down a forest road, seemingly unaware of the leopard stealthily camouflaged behind the bushes, waiting to ambush it.

As the jackal reaches within a striking distance, the big cat pounces on it and tries to catch it by the neck. The feline manages to pin down its prey, but the agile jackal somehow manages to wriggle out of its clutches and run to safety.
