Massive fire erupts in forest of North India, rare flora and fauna destroyed, damage incurred
Uncontrolled infernos broke out since last week at the high mountainous region of north India which have destroyed rare flora and fauna, is beginning to engulf the mountain landscape.
The fire, which had started a week ago, has now spread to the forests of Chora, Taranda and neighboring regions of Kinnaur district in Himachal Pradesh.
Substantial damage to the forest wealth has been reported.
The forest department has deployed personnel to restrain the fire. Reportedly they are getting help from the local people to bring the situation under control.
The plantation was done on massive hectares of land in the forest are, due to which the forest department has suffered a loss of more than 2000 USD. In Bada Kamba, a fire on three hectares of land has damaged plants worth about 50 thousand rupees.
Apart from this, heavy damage is also estimated from other parts of the fire. Six apple orchards were damaged in a village nearby. About 500 apple plants have been gutted there.
More details are being anticipated.
