Buffaloes form an orderly queue while waiting their turn to have a go on scratching post in Kruger National Park, South Africa on February 24.

Several buffaloes form a queue before rubbing against a tree stump to get rid of any out of reach itches.

The filmer told Newsflare: "Old bulls of this kind are very temperamental and known as one of Africa’s most dangerous animals.

"Buffalo bulls have killed more hunters in Africa than any other animal and many lions have lost their lives to these dangerous and very aggressive animals.

"After the bulls enjoyed a drink of water, something in their behaviour struck me as very surprising.

"One buffalo bull made his way to a wooden stump, that is used as a rubbing post, and started scratching his neck. Right behind him, the other two bulls formed an orderly queue."

During an early afternoon safari in the Kruger National Park we came across three lone buffalo bulls standing around a water hole. The large and fierce looking old buffalo bulls live separate from the big herds, all alone or in small groups. Old bulls of this kind are very temperamental and known as one of Africa’s most dangerous animals. Buffalo bulls have killed more hunters in Africa than any other animal and many lions have lost their lives to these dangerous and very aggressive animals. After the bulls enjoyed a drink of water, something in their behavior struck me as very surprising. One buffalo bull made his way to a wooden stump, that is used as a rubbing post, and started scratching his neck. Right behind him the other two bulls formed an orderly queue. After the first buffalo took his time to finish, he moved off while the second one approached the rubbing post in a calm manner. The second buffalo proceeded to scratch his neck followed by a soothing deep scratch on the side of his body. It was very interesting to see the patience shown by these normally grumpy animals. It looked like some of this patience ran out at the end when the third buffalo eventually nudged the one in front of him, letting him know it’s his turn to get rid of the itching on his body. The third buffalo enjoyed a thorough neck scratch as well as a good scratch on the side of his body. Once done, each bull slowly disappeared into his own direction. It was amazing to see how such aggressive and dangerous animals can be so calm and peaceful with one another, patiently giving each a turn to enjoy a good body scratch. We all agreed that we as humans can take a lesson from these old buffalo bulls in regards to waiting your turn in an orderly manner, no matter how urgent your urge or need.
