Chirpy sun conure copies owner's hiccups

Buy video

Eclipse, the sun parakeet, has learnt how to imitate her owner's hiccups and won't stop doing it!

Carol Zajac, based in Tacoma, Washington, begins to hiccup while Eclipse is perched on her knee, the sun parakeet then begins to imitate her - even bobbing her head up and down as she makes the noise.

Sun conures, also know as sun parakeets, can acquire the ability to imitate speech. The bird more commonly mimics noises rather than words.

This footage was filmed on February 28.
