A stomach churning video has emerged from Odisha in India where a branded Krait was seen preying upon a chequered keelback snake.
The video shows the 6ft. branded Krait acting like a predator to the 2.5 ft. Chequered Keelback.
It slowly but gradually is seen trying to ingest the reptile while the filmer Rakesh Mohalik captures the rare sight on his camera.
Both the snakes had entered inside a house in the rural area of Katipada Similipal in Odisha, when the residents saw the snakes they ran out of their house in panic and informed the snake rescuer who then arrived shortly.
While they went inside the house to rescue the reptiles, the rare sight struck the rescuers in awe as one crawler was preying upon the other and had almost ingested half of it.
Biological researcher/wildlife photographer Rakesh Mohalick who captured this footage said, “My usual day as a research scholar been spent mostly at field my affections towards nature make me learn the values.”
“In a rare sight of what I have seen, as soon as I saw this Krait preying upon the Keelback, I took out my Camera and captured the event.”
Snakes are said to be preying on eggs, chicken, rats in common while a snake preying upon a snake is a rare sight to see.
