This is the heartwarming moment a monkey in India that was rescued from the top of a utility pole was consoled by its friend.

The footage, filmed on February 28, shows the monkey stranded on top of the pole with staff from the local power department attempting to set the animal free.

Once set free the monkey was embraced and consoled by a friend after the ordeal that happened in Nandigama.

This was the heartwarming moment a young monkey was comforted by an older monkey after it suffered an electric shock.

Commuters on a road near a government office in Nandigama in Southern India saw a monkey dangling from an electric pole on February 28. The simian had climbed the pole to play and had lost consciousness after suffering an electric shock.

Personeel of the local power department climbed the pole and freed the monkey, which climbed down the pole on its own and sat on the road.

It was too dazed and tired to go back to its band, which kept an anxious watch from nearby rooftops. The band was afraid to approach the injured monkey because of people nearby.

An older monkey finally came down the rooftop and approached the electrocuted monkey. It hugged its younger friend and consoled it. The older monkey checked its body thoroughly for injuries and stayed with it till it recovered and went back to the band.
