This is the terrifying moment a car spun out of control after being clipped by a truck trying to do a u-turn across a busy road.

The driver Thongchan Namphrom, 55, was taking several Buddhist monks back to a temple when the accident happened in Ubon Ratchathani, northeastern Thailand on Febuary 22 afternoon.

Dashcam footage shows the truck loaded with sand from a building site pull out across oncoming traffic to try and turn back onto the opposite side of the motorway.

Thongchan tried to swerve out of the way but the front of the his white Isuzu was clipped. The vehicle then rolled over several times before coming to a stop.

Miraculously, the driver and the monks in orange robes who were passengers at the time escaped without serious injury.

The religious leaders, who were all believed to have been wearing seatbelts, were pictures walking around at the scene of the accident.

Police are now hunting the truck driver, who allegedly caused the crash then left the scene of the accident.

Police Sergeant Colonel Kueprayoon Lakboon said: "We are now finding the driver and will arrest him for his careless driving causing injuries.''
