A farmer in Madierki, India, has built his own fully functioning excavator from refurbished parts he found at nearby shops.

Ashwin Kumar, who has a BSc in agriculture, made a mini digger to help locals cultivate coffee, bananas and vegetables.

To power his machine he Kumar uses an eight horsepower engine which as 3,000 rpm. He purchased the engine from a second-hand shop.

Kumar says: “Many people asked me whether the digger can be made to make inter cultivation in crops so I came up with an idea of making it small with a high underbelly which could make the digger go anywhere.

“The breadth is 2X8 ft and has 8 cage wheels if the top portion i.e the backhoe when removed it can be used as a moto kart and even to make the heaps of coffee and paddy and for small levelling works.

“It has two hydraulic motors independently working so the cost may add up by 3000 GBP that means 3 lakhs INR by that u will be having digger Motokart coffee heaping equipment.”

As they say, “Necessity is the mother of Invention”, in a similar feat a 64-year-old farmer devised his own JCB excavator using refurbished parts from a local shop in Madikere in Karnataka, southern India.

Ashwin Kumar (45) is a BSc in Agriculture from Hulithala village, Madikeri, Karnataka who has now made a Mini Digger JCB which helps the common people to cultivate coffee, banana plants & vegetables.

His unique invention was possible only with the help of refurbished parts which he has assembled purchased from a local shop.

The assembly parts that he uses consists of cylinders of 50 mm bore 25 mm rod, double acting cylinders having a travel length of 30 cm i.e 300mm 4 numbers blade, cylinder 3 inch ie 75 mm bore 35 mm rod, double acting 8 inch travel 1 number.

To power his machine he uses 8 Horse Power auto ape engine which has 3000 rpm max, the engine is procured from second hand shop and refurbished.

Ashwin came with the innovative idea after getting many queries for JCB machines that would help in the digging and cultivation of the crop plantations.
