Father who had been working overseas surprises children by hiding inside giant present
This is the heartwarming moment a father surprised his children after returning from work overseas - by hiding inside a giant present.
Aurelio Benalet climbed into the giant gift box that his wife helped to prepare in the middle of the night on December 3 2019.
The migrant worker had been posted to Australia but managed to get a vacation to see his family in Bulacan, the Philippines.
His wife Marilou went to the room to wake their children, Marielle, six, and Rhay, eight, so they could open the giant gift box.
Aurelio said: "For a month straight, they would always cry whenever I called. They were used to seeing me every night and tucking them in to bed.
''I'm so happy that I was able to see them for a holiday before I had to go back to work again.''
The couple also had a one-year-old baby daughter at the time of the surprise.
Aurelio said: ''The most important thing for me is working hard to provide for my family.''
The Philippines has an estimated 2.3 Million Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) who leave their families at home to be employed abroad.
