Local people in north India experienced a terrifying moment when a gigantic avalanche slid down a mountainside close to their village.

The incident took place on March 12 in the village of Moorang located in Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh state.

Footage shot from the village shows how the snow fell in a chain reaction that buried part of the mountainside.

Reportedly no one was injured in the avalanche.
