Samaritan spots rat snake in his garden, rescues it from the barbed wire in north-eastern India
A good Samaritan helped to rescue an Indian rat snake trapped in a barbed wire fencing in the north-eastern state of Assam.
The incident took place in Tezpur of Sonitpur District on March 9, 2020.
The video shows, the man rescuing the rat snake which was stuck in the barbed wire.
Following this, the snake was hauled out of the fencing, which appeared to be injured.
The man can be seen dragging the agitated serpent, while the locals' are seen filming the incident.
Dhaman or Indian rat snake can grow up to 8ft in length and lives in seclusion.
The rat snake generally prefers forest floors, wetlands, paddy fields, farmland and suburban areas where it preys on small reptiles, frogs, rats and mice.
According to reports, the snake was released into a nearby forest.
