A shocking moment in Coachella Valley, California, when two young men are rescued from a heavy flash flood on Thursday (March 12).

A heroic middle-aged man went into the raging flood with a wench cable to rescue the two young men.

As the flood began to get worse, the young men had to jump out of their vehicle to meet with the middle-aged man. One by one held on to the man's back as he risked getting submerged into the water.

"It was a truly amazing thing to witness. The fire department got there about ten minutes after they were rescued," the filmer said.

On 3/12/20 in the Coachella Valley desert oustide Indio, CA during rare extreme thunderstorms and rain, I was driving on a road in the desert and quickly had to turn around because road ahead was too flodded for my car to cross. As I turned around I noticed off in the distance out in the desert a black off road vehicle stranded in an intensifying flash flood with the water rising, and no other vehicles around. I pulled over and ran as close as I could and realized there were two young men inside the vehicle and immediately called 911, but quickly people began stopping to assist, including a red off road vehicle with a winch. The situation was worsening quickly and an unknown burly middle aged man decided to grab the winch cable and brave the raging flood, to attempt to reach the stranded vehicle. As things got worse the two young men had to jump out as the man could not make it all the way to them, leaving their customized vehicle to the torrent of sand rocks and water. They jumped one by one into the flood grabbing onto the mans back as he struggled to stay upright, and avoid becoming fully submerged. At some points it seemed they would not make it as they all quickly lost their footing becoming almost fully submerged with the man only having the cable to hold on to. They struggled to keep their heads above as they were swept down stream but miraculously they made it toward the bank and helped the exhausted man get back up when they could get their footing. It was a truly amazing thing to witness. The fire department got there about 10 min after they were rescued.
