Wreck of SS Richard Montgomery in the Thames Estuary at High and Low water

Footage of the dangerous wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery liberty ship that sank in the Thames Estuary 1.5 miles north of Sheerness in Kent in August 1944, captured at low and high water on one of the biggest tides of the year (March 13). Around 1,400 tonnes of explosives are estimated to remain on board. The 3 masts remain visible at all tides and there is a permanently monitored exclusion zone around the wreck.

The low tide footage was captured at 09:15, with a tide height of 0.53m recorded by the Sheerness tide gauge. The high tide footage at 15:15, and a 6.46m tide recorded.
