Filipino commuters were stranded yesterday (March 16) in Quezon City, Metro Manila, after public transport was cancelled during a coronavirus lock down.

Hundreds of residents filled the city's Commonwealth Road after they were unable to travel home.

Onlooker Maru Garong said: "I wish the infastrcuture was better so it could handle this situation. It's total chaos.''

The Metro Manila capital region of the Philippines has been subject to a community wide lock down amid the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Military checkpoints were set up last Sunday (March 15) to prevent people leaving or entering without being able to show ID or a proof of address.
