The daughter of British-Iranian political prisoner Anoosheh Ashorri joined protesters opposite Downing Street in London on Wednesday (March 18) to demand the UK government work with the Iranian government for his release from a prison in Iran which he claims is in "chaos" over coronavirus.

Anoosheh sent out a recorded message that he "cannot explain how bad this situation is". Iran insists that conditions in the jails are clean.

His daughter, Elika Ashoori, told the filmer she hopes her father & other prisoners can be released like Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who has been temporarily. She also criticised the UK government for not officially closing her business in Greenwich, meaning she cannot claim insurance, "we don't have business, we're suffering and there's nothing we can do".

A protester at the demo accused the UK government of being "xenophobic, racist and jellyfish" and said "f*** you Boris [Johnson], f*** you, save British citizens that deserve saving."

Iran has been one of the countries worst hit by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic with over 1000 deaths so far.
