Panic settled among the locals after a girl staying in a paying guest (PG) accommodation was suspected to be a COVID-19 positive in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

The incident took place at paying guest in Bangalore on March 19, 2020.

The video shows an ambulance parked in front of the PG and medical personnel walking around in protective suits looking for the suspected woman.

After a short scuffle between the personnel and the PG manager, the girl can be seen walking out.

She was escorted to the ambulance and was taken for coronavirus testing centre.

Earlier, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued an advisory for those staying in Bengaluru in paying guest (PG) or similar accommodations.

The advisory recommends hostel residents to go back home wherever possible and warns owners against overcrowding to maintain maximum levels of social distancing.

The advisory further reiterates that action shall be taken against owners and managers of PG houses and hostels in case of spread of COVID-19 due to non-compliance of the directions related to sanitation and hygiene in the premises.
