The UK returned Bollywood singer who has now been tested positive for coronavirus has thrown an entire city into lockdown in northern India.

The incident took place at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on March 19, 2020.

The video shows police and army personnel marching the streets to ensure the safety of the residents.

The Kanpur District Administration has announced lockdown in certain parts of the state capital.

According to sources, the singer Kanika Kapoor had flown down to Lucknow from London a few days ago and had attended a lavish party where top politicians, bureaucrats and socialites were present.

The Lucknow police have booked the Bollywood singer on charges of negligence for attending various social events despite being infected with coronavirus and having been instructed by the authorities to isolate herself at her home.

The Kalpana tower in Kanpur, where the singer visited has been lockdown.

Uttar Pradesh's government has taken stringent precautionary measures to contain the deadly coronavirus. 

The CM has also urged religious leaders and gurus to postpone all cultural, religious and intellectual programmes till April 2 and appealed to reduce the number of people gathering at marriage functions to 10.  

Following this, Kanpur will be completely sanitized to remove the traces of the virus.

On the other hand, all the malls have been shut down till March 31.
