Throwing caution to winds, people hit street dancing, clapping, clanging utensils and chanting slogans, thumbing their nose at Modi's social distancing plea to fight COVID -19 in Central India
A huge crowd of people started dancing, chanting slogans, clapping and clanging utensils on the streets after misinterpreting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Janata Curfew" to contain COVID-19 in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place in Indore on March 22, at 5:00 pm.
The video shows, large groups of people on the streets dancing, clapping, chanting slogans, playing instruments and waving the Indian flag. Cops chasing the crowd and requesting them to go back to their respected houses.
According to the reports, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had addressed the citizens of India on March 19, 2020, Thursday, to maintain Janata Curfew. During which the citizens were asked to stay indoors from 7 am to 9 pm on March 22, 2020, to contain the deadly Coronavirus COVID 19 from spreading.
The Prime Minister also requested that the people bang vessels, bells, and clap from their balconies and terraces at 5 pm to honour those who are working tirelessly to tackle COVID-19.
Few people misinterpreted applauding doctors, as a myth to fight Coronavirus with false news spreading stating the vibration created would destroy the virus in India.
The people had to stay indoors but, took the streets after misinterpreting.
Later cops chased them away as the 'Janata Curfew' was disregarded by the people.
