Construction site uses fingerprint turnstiles after running 'out of hand sanitiser' during UK lockdown

Workers on a Manchester construction site were still using fingerprint scanners yesterday (March 24) despite the intensified new lockdown measures to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Footage shows workers queuing - less than two metres apart - to get into the site through turnstiles that are said to be operated by fingerprints.

Images show the canteen and measures taken by the construction company that limit "One person per table" and "15 minute sittings."

The filmer told Newsflare: "[The] construction site's still putting workers at risk, making us go through turnstiles with fingerprints."

The filmer also said that the site had "run out of hand sanitiser."

Construction sites across the country have still been operating forcing workers to get public transport and work in close-quarters, despite the government lockdown of none essential workers.

Causing outrage online the decision to not pull construction workers from sites has prompted the trending topic "#ShutTheSites."
