Government announces 21-day-long lockdown to contain COVID-19 pandemic, police bashes up violators in northern India

Amid the panic to contain the coronavirus pandemic, police personnel have resorted to lathi-charge against several lockdown violators in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand.

The incident took place in Dehradun on March 24, 2020.

Police had alerted the people not to come on the roads and avoid mass gathering to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

But many violated the prohibitory order and came out on the roads.

Many shops, business establishments were also opened.

The video shows, the cops batons-charging the people who are seen strolling on the streets even after prohibitory order to stay at home.

Following this, tension prevailed among locals when police resorted to a mild lathi-charge to prevent the gathering of public on the roads, particularly youths who were triple-riding on motorcycles.

Few of them were given fines, the cops have set up various check posts to keep a check on the people who disregarded the warnings.

According to the reports, the government has urged all residents to stay at home to contain the spread of the deadly COVID-19.

On March 24, 2020, the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a 21-day-long complete lockdown across the nation.
