This is the heartwarming moment an Amsterdam man playing music to canal boat residents to raise spirits during the coronavirus pandemic was joined in song by other residents from their balconies.

The musician, who took to the canal in a smartly decorated small boat, is seen playing a trumpet-like instrument and an organ. He plays the famous "Canals of Amsterdam" song, earning applause and cheers from nearby residents, who also start singing.

"There is still a lot of beauty in Amsterdam, the musician says. Everywhere people are willing to live, willing to celebrate, especially when it’s free. Amsterdam is freedom … to celebrate life."

The number of deaths from COVID-19 in the Netherlands rose by 80 on Wednesday, reaching a total of 356. However, public health authorities suggested the virus might be spreading less quickly than before.
