Hooligans and supermarket employees heckle grocery buyers for not wearing face masks amid COVID-19 lockdown in southern India
Two people were physically assaulted by employees and hooligans inside a supermarket for not wearing face masks in the southern Indian state of Telangana.
The incident took place at Heritage fresh, Whitefield, in Hyderabad on March 25, 2020, at 8:30 AM.
The video shows, the employees and other customers yelling at them and physically assaulting the two for not wearing face masks.
According to reports, the duo had visited the grocery store to buy essentials.
They had sanitized their hands before entering the shop, as per the store protocol.
Following this, two men can be seen heckling the duo for not wearing a mask.
The couple tried to reason with them that everyone need not wear a mask and showed them tweets and pictures from the Ministry of Health, however, the situation escalated.
The hooligans can be seen pushing the duo out of the store.
The woman's phone was snatched, and when she had approached the store employees, they refrained from helping her.
One of the store employees can be seen asking them to leave the market.
"Misinformed citizens have been believing in all kinds rumours in the name of social distancing and precautions amid the 21-day-long nationwide lockdown in the country,".
