Desperate to go home amid the 21-day-long lockdown across the country, 16 men hid inside empty milk tankers in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place at Najibabad area, near Bijnor district, on March 25, 2020.

Prime minister Narendra Modi announced a three weeks lockdown commencing from March 25.

Following this, a complete restriction of any kind of public movement has been initiated across the country.

In desperation of going back home, the group of men devised a plan of being smuggled inside empty milk containers.

The video shows, a group of 16 men coming out of the milk tanker one by one.

According to reports, the milk tanker was coming from Dehradun.

The police are yet to take action in this matter.

The government allowed vehicles carrying essential commodities, which include milk tankers, to continue with their everyday work.

The Government in Uttar Pradesh has urged residents to not panic and assured them of continuous supply of essential items.

The government stated that people who are connected with essential services will be issued permit cards from the local district administration for transportation during the lockdown.

According to the Indian government, the violation of the lockdown is a crime punishable under section 51 of the Disaster Management Act for a term which may extend to one year or with fine or both.
