This is the moment police raided a s ex and drugs party that was defying a Covid-19 lockdown in Thailand.

Furious neighbours reported the youngsters after they were disturbed by two nights of a non-stop music and noise in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand last Friday (27/03) evening.

Officers raided the luxury bungalow and found 19 semi-naked young men and women cavorting near the pool. Three others were romping naked on a bed in a connected room.

The local force searched the property and allegedly found several bottles of liquor, boxes of condoms, packs of cigarettes, methamphetamine, ketamine and marijuana.

Police rebounded up 10 men and 12 women who attended the party. They said that almost everybody there tested positive for drugs.

Officers additionally found and confiscated a bag stuffed with 237,000THB cash (5,864GBP) along with drugs.

The alleged ringleader Niran Emsawan, 34, reportedly admitted hosting the party despite the government calling on people to stay at home to stop the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The 22 men and women were taken to the police station and remanded in custody.

The provincial governor said they could be charged with violate the emergency act issued by the government to stop large gatherings.

He said: "Initially, the police will charge them with possessing schedule I, II and V drugs with further charge for the ringleader for selling them.

"Moreover, since the emergency act specifies that assembling for unlawful purposes is not allowed, they are now likely to face the serious charges for violating the act."

Thailand has enforced strict measures to contain the pandemic by closing all non-essential businesses, issuing regional travel bans and banning non-residents from entering the country.
