One month after violent clashes that marked the resurgence of Hong Kong protesters in 2020, the "8.31 attacks" 7-months anniversary were another occasion for protesters to unite around Prince Edwards MTR station. As the police established a cordon around exit B1 of the MTR station, local activists among which District Councillors, stood there to gather the flowers of protesters. Protesters believe a violent police intervention in the MTR station on 31st August 2019 caused several deaths, despite lack of evidence either way. Police state that there were only 7 injured persons during that intervention but refused to authorize the release of CCTV tapes of the intervention, held by the MTR company.
