A smart pet dog loves helping his owner by carrying her basket to help her set up a market stall every day.

The six-year-old black Thai mongrel dog Chokanan goes with owner Bai Singkeaw, 50, to work in Yasothon, northeastern Thailand.

He carries the tarpaulin and other items in his mouth as the trader unloads her equipment from a vehicle to set up her pitch.

The basketwork seller said she brought Chokanan to the market every day since he was four.

She said: "I have been raising him since he was born. He has been with me every time I started selling at the market.

"When he was four he started to take the basket in his mouth and run ahead of me to the set up the spot. I let him do, so it became his duty.

"Now whenever I carry the goods myself he will jump at me and bark to tell me that it is his duty to carry them.

"At the beginning the other shoppers were amazed by how clever he is but now they are used to seeing him do this.''
