Grain Chimney the Tallest Concrete Structure ever to be Demolished in the Britain
Grain Power Station's chimney, on Isle of Grain, was the tallest concrete structure ever to be demolished in Britain and was blown up on Wednesday, 7 September 2016.
The footage from Sheerness seafront shows the huge chimney, which was 244 metres, or 801 foot tall, being expertly blown up by engineers in a matter of seconds, with around 40,000 tonnes of concrete being brought to the ground. After several minutes a huge dust cloud can be seen, dwarfing the neighbourhood.
