The Phuket Airport in southern Thailand is deserted this morning (April 3) after a lockdown and curfew on the popular holiday island.

Land and sea travel was banned from April 1 onwards while the airport will close on April 10 with all flights cancelled.

The island is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and has been the worst hit in Thailand outside the capital Bangkok, leading to strict lockdown measures and a curfew from 8pm each night until 3am.
