A great initiative was taken up by the members of the rescue team in rescuing a turtle to remove a fishing hook from its mouth in western India.

The incident took place in the town of Trimbak of Nashik district in March 2020.

The video shows a group of veterinarians surgically removing a fishing hook from the mouth of a Flapshell turtle.

According to reporters that the hook was stuck inside the upper jaw of the mouth.

Prior to the critical surgery, doctors administered anaesthesia to the animal.

Following this, the doctors pulled out the fishing hook from the animal's mouth with surgical blades and scissors.

Since Flapshell turtles are known for their ability to close the flaps, the doctors had faced difficulties in removing the hook.

After a prolonged surgery, the fishing hook was removed from the animal's mouth.

Thereafter, the turtle was kept under observation for a while.

According to sources, the turtle is in good health now.
