Eerie footage shows black vultures circling around a hospital housing covid-19 patients in Guayaquil, Ecuador on April 1.

The giant birds were seen flying on top of the hospital after 150 people were taken to the hospital by a local rescue team because they were suspected to be infected by the coronavirus.

Rogerio Thomaz Jr said: ''Vultures attracted by the odor of bodies in a hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador. More than 60 people have already died as a result of the coronavirus in the coastal city, but the actual number of fatalities may be much higher than the official data.''

Vulture sightings in urban spaces are said to have increased as coronavirus spreads, making morgues and hospitals overwhelmed by the number of deaths.

So far, there are more than 3,000 cases of covid-19 positive patients in Ecuador with a death toll of 98.
