Coronavirus Shelter-in-Place Order Sparks Exercise Boom in One Florida Beach Town

One unexpected result of the coronavirus pandemic shelter-in-place order in Delray Beach, Florida, is an exercise boom. Under Florida, Palm Beach County and city rules, residents and visitors are allowed to leave their homes for essential reasons -- such as grocery shopping, going to the pharmacy, medical treatment and commuting to work at approved job sites -- and to exercise. With beaches, bars and restaurants shuttered -- though restaurants are allowed to provide take-out and delivery service -- people are turning to exercise to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Even exercise isn't without its rules however. Residents and visitors must exercise with people from their own households and stay six feet away from others. Golf and other popular social sports have been shut down.
